Amazon Posts Surprise Profit

from the well,-look-at-that dept

Now, we all know about how trustworthy any financial report may be (anyone shredding Amazon.com documents these days?), but still many were surprised this morning when Amazon.com posted a profit. Since late last week everyone was saying that they would post a pro forma profit (meaning, basically, a profit if everything had gone as they had hoped, instead of how it really went). But, they didn’t even need to bother with a pro forma statement to show the profit. Of course, that doesn’t mean that people on Wall Street aren’t still complaining about their growth rates. Of course, none of them stop to admit that the reason the growth rates have dropped was because those same people on Wall Street started complaining that they wanted to see profits.
