MapQuest For Paranoid People

from the something-for-everyone dept

Wired has an article about a new site for people in NYC that will let them trace out a route to whereever they want to go that will avoid all surveillance cameras. My first thought on this is that I can’t believe the database would be accurate (or if it is, that it could possibly stay accurate for very long). I do like the one quote from someone who thinks it’s an awful idea who says if privacy advocates don’t want to be seen they should “just stay home” (very constructive suggestion). I would imagine that the site is much more about making a point than actually being useful for “avoiding” surveillance. If you want to find the route of least surveillance in NY, you can go directly to the iSee project.
