All For One, One For All

from the well-sort-of dept

Cingular has officially commited to GSM for its national wireless network. Currently only a handful of Cingular’s markets are GSM, the rest are TDMA. Now that the US has three national carriers commited to GSM (Cingular, AT&T and Voicestream), hopefully we’ll get faster access to the same cool phones they have in other GSM markets and can expect better national GSM coverage. It also increases the potential markets for alternative device companies like RIM, Danger and Good that are working on GSM/GPRS gadgets.
