Web Services: Too Much Hype?

Everyone’s talking about web services these days, and some are wondering if there’s just too much hype about them. We haven’t had a good technology overhyped since P2P, so it’s about time. However, the fact is there may be some “there” there with web services – but it’s beginning to feel like one of those ideas that everyone is suddenly jumping on the bandwagon for. Soon, everyone will say what they’re doing is web services even when it has absolutely nothing to do with web services. My suggestion is to ignore the term “web services” and build something that people find useful.
