The Future Of Television

from the lots-of-questions dept

MIT’s Tech Review has a good article about the future of television, which they view as the time at which you’ll be able to watch anything you want, from any source, at any time… and share what you’re watching with anyone else. The article talks about all the players in the space, and makes it sound as if it will come down to three major players: AOL Time Warner, Microsoft & News Corp together somehow (the rumor is News Corp buying DirecTV with the help of Microsoft cash, and a tie-in with UltimateTV and possibly XBox), and Sony. The article talks most about Sony, so I think it’s worth pointing out that Sony today announced they’re going to integrate Tivo technology into many of their consumer electronics products. Should be an interesting battle to watch.
