Pushing 3G In Japan

from the not-so-easy dept

A NY Times article (the little “archives” backdoor no longer seems to be working – so you’ll have to register to read this article or let me know of another backdoor) about how DoCoMo is trying to get users to sign up for 3G service. Apparently, it’s an uphill battle. There have been plenty of questions about quality on 3G, as well as coverage, content, and the weight of the phones. Plus, the current i-mode service is good enough for a lot of people. While many people think the 3G offerings sound cool, they’re not about to pay the fairly high prices to use it while all those questions still linger.
