Gadgets Galore
from the two-for-the-price-of-one dept
Two completely separately, but equally goofy, articles about gadgets that I’m throwing into a single post for the sake of efficiency. First, is a new internet controlled remote control robot. As far as I can tell this is a bizarre robot-shaped device with an infrared output. If, before you leave your home, you point it at a device that will accept remote control commands (such as your VCR), you’ll then be able to control that device over the internet – by sending commands to the robot. Seems like you have to do an awful lot of planning just to set your VCR. Why not just set it before you leave home? The other device is a handpowered cell phone charger. Crank it up for a few spins and suddenly you’ll be able to talk for a few minutes on your cell phone – even if your battery is dead. The downside, though, is that it seems to charge its own system – so you have to keep it connected to the hand crank while making the call.
