AOL Selling A Lot Of Ads… To Itself
from the how-do-you-account-for-that? dept
AOL has been talking about how the drop in the online advertising market has not hurt them too badly. They’re still selling plenty of ad inventory. However, maybe that’s because they’re selling that inventory to themselves. It looks as though a significant portion of AOL’s ad sales are just the company exchanging money with itself. While, this could be good overall for the company – since it helps to promote all of their various brands, it does make their results a little more confusing. It also means you can’t really trust what they say about the “advertising market”, since they are a good portion of their own advertising market.
