Latest Wireless Apps Focus On Carriers, Not Users

from the the-distribution-channel-of-choice dept

An interesting look at some of the newest wireless applications that may soon be available. The popular thing to do, these days, is to build an application with a focus on working with wireless carriers to deploy to customers. This makes sense from a channel marketing standpoint, as it should be (in theory) easier to convince a few carriers to include your product and handle the end-user marketing than convincing millions of random users to find and use your product. However, the problem is that this disconnects the developers from the users – and many of these products, while cool, have no real demand from wireless users. So, these companies are basically designing “cool” applications that will impress the carriers, but not necessarily solving any real needs of users.
