Back To The Technology

from the it's-about-time dept

Dan Gillmor talks about how since the bubble has burst, entrepreneurs have gone back to focusing on technology instead of liquidity events – and that can only mean good things. Technology continues to march forward, meaning more productivity, and better tools and ideas continually popping out. Who knows what that means in terms of an economic recovery in the near term – but at least it suggests that the next generation of businesses will be ones that are built to last – as opposed to built to sell out.

Re: Productivity for the users perhaps

I consider myself to be one of the subjects of the article. I used to develop fancy new features for web sites (very big names) but turned to work on a specialised content-management system that makes managing online press releases easier than knocking up a letter in Word. No web designers needed, no technical training needed, hence the PR people can get on and do what they do best… ie it makes them more productive.
