An interesting contrast showing the different opinions corporations have towards having their own VC arms. Compaq just officially closed up their VC arm saying it was no longer useful or making any money. At the same time, however, Agilent Technologies is pushing full speed ahead with their Agilent Ventures corporate VC group. The article explains how Agilent views their investment decisions these days. Their plan is just to co-invest with big name, trusted VCs – and not try to turn their investment arm into a powerhouse VC of its own.
