Metallica Settles Now That Napster Is Dead
from the great-timing dept
Now that Napster is pretty much completely dead (at least it’s been offline for 10 days, and have been told they can’t go back online until their filter is perfect) Metallica has finally settled their lawsuit with the company. Lars Ulrich, always full of bizarre wisdom about digital music, says that it’s an agreement that will make everyone happy. Actually, the fans and Napster were happy before. The solution sounds more like something that’s simply designed to make Lars richer, while making fans and Napster poorer. As for that whole thing about the filter having to be perfect, maybe we should have judge Patel go up to Redmond and tell them they can’t release any software until it’s 100% bug free.
