Buying Private Items Online

from the not-so-great dept

A reporter ran a test buying a number of different “personal” items at online drugstores to see if they arrived in non-descript containers and if her privacy was kept. She was a little unnerved by the way way Drugstore.com offered additional products based on what she searched on – though I doubt that was really a privacy issue. All of them delivered the packages in non-descript boxes, but it took a while to get there (not good, as she points out, if you need something to “stop that burning itch”). It’s interesting also, to see that even after all these years, many online stores still suck in user interface and handling customers.
