What Can You Learn From PurchasePro?

from the be-wary-of-hubris dept

PurchasePro used to be one of the big B2B success stories. There were tons of articles about them as their stock price shot upwards. Part of the story, though, was how differently they had done things. They had avoided venture capital, and they had an off the wall CEO. It seems that instead of making news, the company should have focused on making a better product. It seems that the company made one of the biggest mistakes of the dot com era: they believe their own marketing hype. The fact is, though, that Wall Street wanted to (and did) believe the story for a while, and now there’s not much left to show for it.
