Amazon Was Deceptive But That's Okay
from the the-FTC-look-the-other-way-policy dept
The FTC has come out with a report saying that Amazon probably was deceptive in how it collected information from surfers using Alexa, but since Amazon’s changed their policy, the FTC will simply look the other way, and not punish them. In other words, you can be bad until someone starts complaining, then if you change your policies before the FTC has a chance to review everything you’ll be fine. Doesn’t seem like much incentive to do the right thing from the beginning, does it?
