Another One Bites the Dust
from the Who's-going-to-deliver-my-ben-and-jerrys? dept
I’m sad to post that Kozmo.com is closing its doors. Sure they were in a tough business with no margins and a hazy business model, but who will now step up to the plate and deliver Ben and Jerry’s ice cream to my door at 11:15PM? As is the case these days, Kozmo’s fate was sealed when a rumored merger with LA-based delivery service PDQuick fell through. I used the service many and times and was quite happy with it. I even continued to use the service when they added a service fee, though, apparently the rest of you did not. It was fast and convenient. It’s too bad that such a service isn’t sustainable. Can Webvan be far behind?

Shuttered
One secondary fallout of all these dot coms going out of business is the sudden overuse of the word ‘shutter’ as a verb. We had buzzwords on the way up (eyeballs, etc.) and now we have buzzwords on the way down.

CRAP!
Now I’ve got to physically go to the movie store.
I really liked them… I guess my weekly $10 orders weren’t enough to keep them in business 🙂
Kozmo/Webvan
Last I remember, Webvan was going to run out of cash in Q3 or Q4 of this year.
