Did Oracle Save A Billion Dollars?

from the who-cares dept

Microsoft is now arguing that Oracle is lying when they say they saved a billion dollars by using its own software. There were a few articles about this recently which point out that most of the savings came from cutting its service department. There is some disagreement as to whether those cuts were just Oracle getting out of a low margin business – or due to software efficiencies. What’s interesting is Microsoft chirping up about this. When it was just analysts and the media, it was understandable, but now Microsoft is sounding like a sore loser by complaining.
