Sucks To Be Laid Off

I’ve been hearing more and more stories like the ones in this article. Tech firms that seemed so nice a few months back, and offered all sorts of cool perks in their “fun” work environment are now turning into bastards when it comes to layoffs. Firms aren’t paying promised severance agreements, and some have even stopped paying 401(k) benefits. The article does mention that many laid off employees are figuring out ways to hold things like laptops hostage in order to get their severence packages (which is amusing because I know two people who did exactly that).
