The Changing Incubation Landscape

from the not-some-warm-and-fuzzy-now dept

Red Herring has a good article looking at how incubators are evolving. For the past few months most news articles about incubators have just been laughing at what a stupid concept they turned out to be. This article, however, looks at how many of the incubators have adjusted and changed into something that could actually work. Some incubators are focused on offering services, while others are teaming up with corporations and universities to develop ideas based on intellectual property owned by those entities. Personally, I’m still weary of many of these incubators that are started by one-hit wonders. I’ve noticed the pattern that incubators are often founded by people who created a single company that did well – and suddenly they think they have the Midas touch.
