Bertelsmann Looking At Deal With RecordTV
from the scooping-up-the-small-guys dept
Bertelsmann is apparently talking to RecordTV about working together to provide an internet based VCR. This is, of course, exactly what RecordTV was doing originally (for fun), before everyone decided to sue them. I think it’s very interesting that Bertelsmann is so actively making deals with these companies that everyone is suing. While there is still the question of execution (and are they just doing this to kill these companies), my gut feeling is that they’re actually making some pretty smart moves. Every time I hear Bertelsmann’s CEO talk, I get the feeling he actually might get it.

Why don't....
RecordTV and ReplayTV get together for a napster-like community, so that you’ll never miss a TV show again? Oh yeah, bandwidth…. Ahh, bandwidth, shmandwidth….

I have to agree with Mike, Bertelsman CEO is definately trying to remodel his company. Hmm… what is it with this old European companies that get new CEO’s that smash the company to bits and remake it into an industry leader (i.e. Nokia or Vivendi) ?
