ReplayTV Changes Business Model

from the damn,-we-didn't-expect-competition... dept

Apparently, someone forgot to write the “competition” part of ReplayTV’s business plan. They’re changing the business model because they can’t compete with Tivo, and their marketing muscle. Now, instead of selling ReplayTV devices to consumers, they’re simply going to license the technology to other companies, and let the money roll in. This most likely means that ReplayTV wasn’t selling enough of its boxes via the marketing they’d already done, and now they’re looking for a way to save the company. I wouldn’t be surprised if they eventually sold the company off to a set-top box maker like General Instrument who’ll fire all the workers and keep the technology. Despite what they say, if you already own a ReplayTV, you might want to look into buying a Tivo…

Taxi Cab Day Trader

I am producer for Hurricane TV in New York and we are producing an hour special for CNBC entitled, “Watch and Make Money.” We are looking for a Taxi Driver who invests in the market and I saw a man on this site named Carlos who invests and is a cab driver. Is there anyway of getting in touch with him?
You can reach me via email at DMS1223@aol.com
Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: Taxi Cab Day Trader

Sounds interesting, I met a Taxi driver in New York that was obsessed with investing in the market. It sort of makes sense if they spend a majority free time stuck in a car, why not brush up on your capital markets knowledge.

Unfortunately, I didn’t keep in touch with the guy but I’ll try to have a look through techdirt to see if I can find him.

I looked around to see who it could have been the closest I could get was a taxi driver that drives around NYC and broadcasts it (he’s started a taxi portal). To contact him you can go to http://www.ny-taxi.com/misc/contact.asp or he might reply here on techdirt (I emailed him telling him you might be looking for him, although I’m not sure if its the right guy).
