Fewer Tech Acquisitions Than Expected

from the what's-going-on? dept

News.com is talking about the fact that there really haven’t been that many technology mergers and acqusitions this year. This was a surprise to me. I figured that with the stock market troubles, more companies would look to consolidate with their competitors (or complementary product offerings) in order to present stronger business fundamentals. What happened, instead, appears to be that everyone is suddenly in trouble, so the few companies that are in the position to be buyers can simply wait until their competitors go out of business, and then maybe pick up the pieces.
