Groove Unveils

from the something-big,-or-just-another-thing? dept

Another mystery down the drain. After years of highly guarded secrecy (and lots of speculation) Groove Networks has revealed what they do. Apparently, they’re doing collaboration software that includes file sharing and eats memory like all the memory chip plants are burning to the ground. So, most of the rumors about what they were working on turned out to be true. Based on the description, I’m underwhelmed. I’m willing to test it out, but I’m not convinced there’s any real reason to use this. It doesn’t sound all that different from what’s out there, and they’re going to have to differentiate themselves somehow. I’m also curious as to how they’re going to price it. I’d look on their website, but it’s apparently getting hit pretty hard right now because I certainly can’t get in (not necessarily a good sign).
