It seems that to prevent “embarrassing” situations such as the one experienced by Time Warner, you and your company should follow ethical guidlines on industrial intelligence operations. However, experts tend to admit that grey areas still exist, which isn’t really surprising. Basically, if your going to go looking for trade secrets don’t tell all your employees about it first.
