Free Cars Fool Plenty
from the not-that-surprising dept
Esquire ran an April Fool’s joke where they created a fake dot com that would give people a free car if they were willing to have it covered in advertisements for feminine hygiene products. They added the typical touches like a Stanford MBA and an “outrageous” presentation where he raised money. Esquire figured no one would believe it, but plenty did. Especially interesting were the number of competitors to the company that flipped out and wanted to get in touch with them.

This takes the cake.......
Well………I have to say it. People are dumb. Not normal dumb, not really dumb, but, the people that believe this stuff. Think of the date people, I had people fall for stuff, I have not fallen for it. We do silly stuff, like take my parents cars and park them horizontally in the driveway, they were quite suprised and figured it out. No harm, or …take some orange carpet [whatever color the cat is] and throw it under the lawn-mower. [i hate kats]. People, THINK. I do it everyday, it is my job. Sometimes, when I am rebuilding a server, while answering the phone, talking to 4 different clients and playing quake, I will forget to put the floppy in and wonder why my drive is not working. This is different. I made a mistake, not like your ‘error’ …”TINSTAAFL”, nothing is FREE(c). “Too good 2 b true”, probably is. Wake up America(tm), you are enter the NEW 20th centuery. Remember, it is your cellphone that is going off, not someone elses. ANSWER IT!
