TiVo Takes Next Step Towards Being A Media Center
from the but-charging...? dept
TiVo has made their next move in trying to become more than just a TV set top box... They're now going to let users play music and show images from their computers on their TiVo. This, of course, makes perfect sense as they try to make themselves more of a complete "media center" for the home. The problem, though, is that they want to charge for this "feature" - meaning almost no one will sign up. It's a nice to have, but it's not likely to convince many people they need to pay extra to listen to their music or show their photos. However, some of the other features sound nice as well, such as finally offering the ability to program your TiVo via the web.
