I can't believe I have to point this out, but the person you're replying to was clearly suggesting giving Texas back to Mexico.
How this wasn't obvious to you will forever remain a mystery.
Biden and Obama showed that Dems will never hold anyone accountable for any abuses, ever.
No one involved in this have anything to fear, and they know it.
The silence on this from "small government" Republicans and the "Don't Tread On Me" clowns speaks volumes about both their political beliefs and their character.
Pritzker gets several (well-deserved) mentions here. But tons of people on Bluesky are heaping praise on him and calling for him to run for president.
To which I say, "No. Fuck all billionaires. ALL of them."
Anyone who'd vote for yet another oligarch for president deserves the country our current one is creating. A billionaire with a conscience is not a thing that exists, or CAN exist.
What do the six conservative justices on the SC get from being this obsequious?
They get their very own gaggle of obsequious rich people.
SCOTUS isn't some group of cloistered nuns; they're a very social group of politicians who surround themselves with yes-men, including the extremely wealthy who want to curry favor with them, or with their friends in Congress and the White House.
They've always been easily bought (see Bush v Gore), but those doing the buying used to pretend that even-handedness mattered a little. The pretense is gone. Now all the Justices want is for their team to be victorious, because it will further enrich their friends, who will continue to spend lavishly on feting them at every turn.
Multi-million dollar birthday parties for Justices is a long Washington tradition. The graft hasn't changed; it's just more out in the open now.
I totally support consolidation in the streaming market, because I'm already practicing consolidation:
I pay for Netflix. Period.
Any company that wants my money should license their stuff to Netflix, because that's the only streaming company I will ever use.
I'd happily pay $50/mo for a Netflix that had everything. Instead, I pay them ~$18/mo and pirate everything else I want to watch.
Scolding commenters is Masnick's Bluesky schtick. Does it really need to extend to Techdirt as well?
Just turn off the frickin' comments here - they really don't add much to the (mostly) useful articles.
Until white people like yourself start working jobs that are low-paying, migratory, and seasonal, this isn't a good thing. At least, not to anyone with basic critical thinking skills.
So the internet has changed, and therefore we must change how we interpret the First Amendment related to it.
You know what's also changed A LOT: firearms. I'm sure Clarence will immediately take note of his logical inconsistency and choose a different reading of the Second Amendment.

Given that the entire Republican lifestyle consists of nothing but pretending to be horrifically offended by everything - no matter how inoffensive - it's hysterical that one has ever uttered the words, "If you don't like it, just don't look."
Someone should share Governor Landry's strategy with Cruz, Abbott, DeSantis, and all the rest of the chronically offended nancyboys.
Agreed. The article inexplicably presents "more speech" as "against free speech."
Even if that's coming from the source material, a Techdirt writer should know better and call it out.
Liberalism does not have the best track record in combating economic inequality. It bangs the drum on individual rights and freedoms, but sidesteps questions of economic justice and wealth ditribution.
You're clearly an American whose idea of liberalism is based on the joke that is American "liberalism."
Look at actual political science definitions or, if you want real-world example and practices, Northern European liberalism. It's no accident that Scandanavia hosts the happiest people on the planet, who also happen to lack the US's income inequality.
You lose credibility when you call RFK, Jr. a "vaccine skeptic." That term suggests that he could become a vaccine supporter given the proper set of data. This is obviously false.
He's an anti-vax fruitcake, complicit in the murders of children.
If I want to see these anti-intellectual nutcases handled with kid gloves, I'll stick to the NYTimes. Techdirt has the ability and brainpower to be more factual. Please use it.
A. Coward said: "assuming the Library can properly manage the data and make it available."
The Library managers billions of pieces of digital materials, including born-digital materials. There is no organization on earth more knowledgable about digital preservation.
And if they failed, a lot of what would be lost would be far more valuable than video games.
Additionally, the Trump administration hasn't been shy about naming and harassing private citizens - including professors and teachers, many of whom are public employees - who protest the Gaza nonsense.
Once again, cops insist on a different standard of privacy than what the rest of the public (and the public workforce) receives.
Imagine citing reddit for a historical quotation. lol. There's zero evidence this tablet even exists, or that the quote wasn't entirely made up.
British children don't have a First Amendment right to anything, because they have no First Amendment.

I'd choose Ron Wyden.
"Small Government" - lol

Billionaires are not our friends

I actually agree with him!

The stupidity epidemic officially began in the US on November 4, 1980, and quickly became a global pandemic.
