  Two way street

  These publishers have to realize that if they are going to get paid for Google to link search results to their sites, then it should be ok for Google to charge them for including their sites on its search results. IE, you pay Google for including you, or you are left out. Yeah, and Google should charge double of what these idiots are asking...

  Adidas has very deep pockets. Instead of continuing to pay lawyers for this, just make the church an offer they can't refuse. It will save everyone a lot of pain and suffering.

  Screw Texas

  I used to drive through Texas to visit family in Mexico (Veracruz and Oaxaca) as from Chicago where I live it is a lot shorter a drive than through New Mexico. No more. I won't be driving through Texas on my way back from Mexico at least. So, they will losing a fair amount of my $$ for gas, food, lodging I would spend there on my trip. I hope others feel the same way - Texas has become a Sharia state in just too many ways.

  It's all cost and time to market

  Security is hard. Good security is really hard. Just ask Bruce Schneier. It costs money, and takes a lot of time and development resources to get it right. Car companies, and others, are pressured to get these products to market quickly, so security is given short shrift, to the detriment to their customers. At the least, they could provide an OFF switch to disable all remote internet or other wireless access other than the hardware key that the driver has to have on their person in order to get into or lock the vehicle. I think I will keep my '99 Camry until it falls apart. 250,000 miles and it still runs like a Swiss watch, burns no oil, and gets 25 city and 30+ mpg on the highway.

  So, if to the author the publisher is classifying each "license" as a book sale, does that mean that purchasers now "own" the book? Does the First Sale Doctrine hold here? Oh boy, some lawyers are going to have a field day with this one!

  Anyone who uses Windows systems to implement/control real-time or safety-critical systems should be sued for reckless endangerment! There are much more robust software systems for such uses, such as Linux RT, QNX, etc.

  Java is dead

  If Oracle succeeds in this effort to lock up the Java API's, then Java is dead, and they lose. Google is smart enough and has deep resources enough to do something else that will eliminate Java code from all cell phones everywhere.
