  • Another Spammer Sent To Prison

    Go by domain?

Perhaps it would be easier to simply charge more for an email domain and then filter out any domain that has been known to generate tons of spam?

Oh and getting rid of Outlook would help a lot too. A lot of bot net armies are using exploited outlook to send emails.

Well the neat thing about the library is now you must have your library card to use the internet.

  • Is A Photograph A Derivative Work Of The Object In The Photo?

    John Strickland ( profile ), 13 Feb, 2008 @ 10:00pm

    Thumbnail?

Wouldn't this be a thumbnail? A paintings resolution is determined by the number of molecules that comprise the paint. Since the digital image of it will have an insanely smaller resolution, isn't it just a thumbnail? And as far as the picture of a statue goes, the statue is a representation of a symbol and the importance of the statue is based on who made the statue, what value society places on the symbol being represented and the quality of the statue's representation of the symbol. If a picture is taken, the ONLY thing that the picture and the statue have in common are the symbol. Or am I just an idiot?

  • Verizon Wireless Apparently Still Can't Train Its Sales People In Basic Math

    Sales.

The reason they say .002 units instead of $2/MB is that people know how big a MB is. Its one floppy. If you told someone that one floppys worth of info is going to cost them $2, they wouldn't sell anything. As far as the diffrence between dollars and cents, bits and bytes is important when you are in a tech field.

You can't drop this. If you were told that Gasoline was 3.19 CENTs per gallon, you pump 30 gallons because its such a good deal and get hit with a $95 tab you would be pissed too.

The only difference here is that it would have been a months worth of gas and your ass is stuck pumping at this gas station for 2 years!

  • Comcast Still Dancing Around Its Content Jamming Operations; What's Wrong With Admitting It?

Re: This looks like a poor attempt at customer ret

Aye, one of their main selling points is that they told customers they don't care what you do with the bandwidth.

And its true. They don't the just care how much you use.

On a side note, all they do is kill a port after that port has moved "too much" data, and it isn't port number 40. All you have to do is switch ports. If they kill one a day, and you have a range of 10,000 or so, you should be good for a couple years.

    And if you don't even

  • If You Play Your Radio Loud Enough For Your Neighbor To Hear, Is It Copyright Infringement?

    Doesn't matter much.

The only reason people are mad at the RIAA is because they are ass holes.

I think that the only way to make ass holes go away is to piss them off and make them cry.

So if everyone would just stop buying packaged music for a year...

  • Do People Always Search To Be Sent To Another Site?

    John Strickland ( profile ), 02 Oct, 2007 @ 12:43pm

    google...

Not just used for personal searches. What about people who google whack or google hack. They constitute a huge amount of google searches. Since everyone uses google for these, no other search engine would be affected.

When is the last time someone asked for a cool ask.com hack?

    Ping?

When will people start advertising average pings to google in local areas.

Ping was one of the major reasons I switched from DSL to Cable, because the ping was so much better.

  • Man Charged With Putting TV Show He Found On The Web… On The Web?

    John Strickland ( profile ), 04 Jun, 2007 @ 05:56pm

    It is information.

Information should be free. If you want to sell something that is more convenient, like being broadcast over the air or by selling on a portable collectible reusable DVD... then go right ahead. But to say that someone just trying to share entertainment with people in a free medium, making no money himself, is comparable to a heroin sell to a child if fucking ludicrous.

In the heroin case you are permanently scaring a small child and possible addicting them for life while padding your wallet because little jimmy is stealing from his parents wallets to finance his new 'candy'.

Where in the copyright infringement case, you are slightly lowering the number of people watching the show, which doesn't affect nielson ratings anyway unless someone who has a neislon box is watching them online vs the TV.
