The point is that there are a number of "parent companies".
Some satellite systems and cable systems offer the IFC (Independent Film Channel) which airs all kinds of material. Also, there are not a "select few" companies. There are many broadcast companies that are free (within certain parameters controlled by their parent company) to choose their content. In other words, they already have their outlet, they just need to convince cable companies and satellite companies to include it in their channel line-up.
Believe it or not, some states here are giving them drivers licenses. This is in spite of the objections of the legal citizens.
"Why not regular debit cards? Don't you have those in the US?"
This way illegal aliens can have full financial access.
Sounds like it is time for Congress to address the "personal data" security issue. I think it is time (past time) for them to come up with a regulation along the lines of the HIPAA regulations for this issue.
A Republican Conservative Christian Lawyer!!
Wow, what a contradiction!!
JT has picked video games as his forte' just as John Edwards picked natural childbirth as the cause of "cerebral palsy" as his forte' and made millions off of that in North Carolina.
I like the idea of an injured person sueing the business that was careless with their private data. The only problem I see with this is that it would be very difficult to prove that the injury to their credit and financial lives was 1) A direct resullt of that instance of carelessness, and 2) A real loss that can be assigned a monetary value.
Since when has the Constitution ever been a stumbling block for the FCC?
The major difference between Katie Couric and a legitimate reporter is that Katie is only a "news reader" and doesn't create any content.
Don't forget the pablum of television in general and televised sports in particular.
Unfortunately the "System" has been broken for many years. That is why there are so many repeat offenders. We can't trust the system to decide if a child predator has been "fixed". As it stands now, once a predator, always a predator. They forfeit their rights when they violate a child, and as far as I am concerned, should NEVER have them restored.
Note to "The infamous Joe": I don't see any comparison between speeders and child predators. I think you might need a reality check. Of course, I realize that our politicians would never take a strong stand on anything unless it involved accepting a bribe and would therefore never approve something like this. In this scenario, however, a predator could choose, GPS tracking, or life behind bars (which should include HARD labor).
The RFID has limited value as you have to be in the proximity (within a few feet) of a RFID reader to be tracked. Instead, implant child predators with GPS tracking devices under their skulls. Include with that a small charge (small enough to ONLY scramble their brains) that detonates if they get within 100 feet of a school or within 10 feet of a child under 15.
Everyone wants to target Wal Mart just because they are the biggest kid on the block. They didn't do anything that other large companies don't do. The real bad-guy is the IT Professional (?) that has been divulging this info. All respected and respect worthy IT pros know and understand that what you learn in the course of your work that is confidential in nature remains confidential and you DO NOT divulge this info. This person should NEVER be employed in the IT field EVER again.
I don't really care if we choose DST or Standard Time. I just am tired of the BS. I vote to tell Congress to go screw themselves and refuse to change our clocks anymore.
Apparently the Illinois Department of Revenue is a subsidiary of Exxon/Mobil.
If you recorded some of your friends beating up someone then you were in on the planning and should go to jail with your friends, thug!!
Aside from the question of how many broadcast companies there are, there is the issue of language and nudity. I sometimes watch the IFC when I visit a family member who has satellite. Much of their programming is not suitable for prime-time broadcast, although it is excellent quality (for the most part) and quite entertaining.
