  Is he actually trying to lump "forgot to turn the camera on in the heat of the moment" and "intentionally turned the camera off while pursuing a suspect" into the same category of user error, here?

  The Court notes that the domestic courts extensively explained why they considered that the applicant’s statements had been capable of arousing justified indignation, namely that they had not been made in an objective manner aiming at contributing to a debate of public interest

  This decision doesn't seem all that bad, and really shouldn't affect many people: after all, most discussions of a religious nature I've ever read or heard have all been quite objective and contributed greatly to public harmony.

  As far as I’m concerned, despite his lack of articulation, he’s doing a fantastic job. I can't go so far as to say "fantastic", but I gotta agree that Trump's doing a pretty good job. After all, he hasn't vivisected any kittens during a televised press conference, which means he's doing better than I expected.

  We are told that the only thing we can do is "fix any violations." But they won't tell us what the "violations" are... If reviewers don't have the time to (at minimum) C&P the flag-inducing content, the content shouldn't be flagged... or Google shouldn't even be bothering with the "human" part of the process in the first place.

  I wasn't intending to make Bai Tongdong out to be a moron -- far from it. Nemo's comment below does a much better job stating what I was clumsily hinting at, although I was going after utilitarianism in more general way. As a side note, pragmatism and utilitarianism (and formalism) seem to be well suited to the practice of law, and Prof Bai's lectures probably are very interesting -- I just don't think the same principles should be applied to government and politics in the same way or to the same degree. After all, look at how many lawyers the US elects to Congress, and how well that keeps working out for us ;)

  In the world we live in though, the practical motto should be “do the lesser evil”. For, after all, a morally compromised Google is still better than Baidu.

  A utilitarian pragmatist philosophy professor who recommends that multinational corporations capitulate to the demands of totalitarian governments because "meh better'n nuthin'"... I would kill to be able to sit in on one of this guy's NYU law courses.
