Wait, this is a real product? I thought it was just a joke parody. What are they thinking? Oh wait, it's Ubisoft, they don't think.

  • Yet Another Music Business Model: Label Signs With A Band

    ScytheNoire ( profile ), 04 Aug, 2009 @ 10:06am

    Finally logical thinking

For too long it has been backwards, where the labels where the top tier and bands were a commodity. It SHOULD be the other way around. Bands should be the top tier, with music labels being hired by the bands to do all those PR things a label should do. Distribute music, set up concert dates, promotion, website, etc. Music labels today need to be PR machines for the bands that they work for.

For too long it was a slavery of musicians working for "the man."

A smart PR company could be cleaning house if they shifted themselves to being a music label that works like this, promoting bands, taking care of the PR. Guess those advertising companies are missing the boat on this one.

  • Congrats, RIAA: Chilling Effects Have Killed Interest In New Digital Music Startups

    ScytheNoire ( profile ), 24 Jul, 2009 @ 10:37am

    Legal?

I still don't understand how all these groups like the MPAA, RIAA, IFPI, etc are even legal. They seem like extortion groups, no different from the mafia or gangs, except they use lawyers instead of guns and baseball bats.

There really need to be a politician who cleans up this illegal, anti-competitive crap, because everything involving lawyers has gotten way out of hand.

  • If You're Going To Meter Broadband, Shouldn't You At Least Make Sure The Meters Work?

    Monopoly

Cogeco has a monopoly in the area they are in. There's no other cable internet providers, as most of Canada has cable monopolies, and where I live, DSL is not an option, I tried. I was with TekSavvy but had to cancel because I was down to 1Mb, which is not acceptable.

Unfortunately, DSL isn't a good option either in Canada, or at least Southern Ontario, with Bell throttling and shaping traffic for all DSL providers.

Canada's ISP options are pathetically bad, most area's have monopolies, traffic shaping is out of control, and prices are sky high. The government is just too stupid, or too far up corporations asses, to actually care about the future of Canada.

  • Has The Pirate Bay Lost Its Appeal… Or Should We Not Trust The NY Times?

    ScytheNoire ( profile ), 13 Jun, 2009 @ 01:38pm

Bigger they are, the more they are wrong

I never trust large news groups, these big corporations, as they are often wrong, and their opinions are tainted by corporate money and corrupt political agenda's.

It's bad when a place called "The Pirate Bay" is more truthful and upstanding than a major national newspaper.

    Taser should be sued

Taser should be sued for stealing the name from someone else, Thomas A. Swift's Electric Rifle.

Love how one thief sues another.

  • Entertainment Industry Really Really Really Wants To Believe Pirate Bay Verdict Is A Win

    ScytheNoire ( profile ), 20 Apr, 2009 @ 09:54am

    MAFIAA is so densely stupid

You would think that when millions of people are doing something, demanding their entertainment in a certain form, that the entertainment industry would learn to change and adapt, and do what has always happened, which is make even more money.

With online downloading, they could target advertise better than ever, know EXACTLY how many viewers they have, and make more money than ever.

Instead they keep fighting progress and technology, and it's a losing battle. They are so idiotically stupid, it's hard to believe that so many of them can't see the obviousness that is smacking them in the face.

  • Bell Canada Looking To Use Pricing Change To Knock Out Competitors

    ScytheNoire ( profile ), 18 Apr, 2009 @ 01:08pm

Bell Canada needs to be shut down

Bell Canada is so corrupt, and they have corrupted our political system so much, that it's just disgusting. It actually makes AT&T look good compared to Bell Canada. They really need to be put out of business for their illegal practices.

  • Blizzard Adds Another Scarcity To Sell Around World Of Warcraft: 3D Figurines

    ScytheNoire ( profile ), 28 Jan, 2009 @ 06:05am

    Very old news

Not only is it not free software, as pointed out, but these 3D FigurePrints have been around for over a year now.

This is nothing new, but it's not using free as a model, as you have to pay for the software, pay for the subscription, pay for realm transfers, pay for character re-customization. Nothing about WoW is free, at all. Not even close.

  • Bell Canada Caught Lying In Advertisements… Continues Advertising Because It Doesn't Believe Ad Review Group

    ScytheNoire ( profile ), 23 Jan, 2009 @ 05:32pm

    It's Bell

Bell Canada is known for it's corruption and abuse of power. The government has given it way too much and allowed it to do whatever it wants. It continues to illegally throttled competition, and so lying in advertising is just par for the course as far as Bell Canada goes.

If this was an American company, there would be monopoly and antitrust lawsuits galore.

  • Pretty Much All Canadian ISPs Are Slowing Down P2P

    ScytheNoire ( profile ), 21 Jan, 2009 @ 05:35am

    Misleading

You make it sound like ISP's have a choice here. The big problem in Canada is that there is no choice.

DSL providers are being forced throttled by Bell. It's an extremely anit-competitive maneuver that should be illegal, and is most places.

Cable is a localized monopoly in most places in Canada, so once again, no choices, because none are allowed.

This is just the government giving big corporations the right to screw over the people. And with conservatives in charge, that won't change.

  • Canadian Blank CD Levy To Increase By Another 38%

    ScytheNoire ( profile ), 16 Dec, 2008 @ 05:57am

    Stupidity at it's finest

It's stupid that this even exists. By this logic, guns should have a tax to pay for families who are victims of gun violence. Cars should have a tax to pay for victims of car accidents. Alcohol should have a tax to pay to victims of alcohol-driven violence. Cigarettes should have a tax to pay victims of second-hand smoke. Fast food should have a tax to pay to families of people who have had heart attacks.

I mean, you could go on and on with this type of stuff.

It's just stupid that because one of the uses of something might possibly be illegal (arguable as making legal backup's is legal, after all) and used by 0.1% for that purpose, the rest are punished?

    Stupidity at it's finest.

  • NBC Universal Likes To Keep Its Head In The Sand About People Watching TV Online

    ScytheNoire ( profile ), 06 Dec, 2008 @ 07:55pm

    Executive = Idiot

Why does it always seem that any sort of executive is an idiot and out of touch with reality?

Personally, I haven't had cable or satellite TV in over three years. I've been getting all my TV online for that time, and it's been the best thing I've done. I never miss a show I want to see and if a show gets a good word of mouth going, I can go back and get the show from the start and watch it, while avoiding shows that are good but get canceled (looking at you FOX).

  • How Canada Fought Bad Copyright Law: Showing Why Copyright Law Matters

    ScytheNoire ( profile ), 04 Dec, 2008 @ 06:01am

One way to fix all government

Here's a quick easy fix to all government, put any politician who associates with lobbyists in jail and make lobbying illegal.

I'm so sick of special interest groups dictating how things are done. It's not about "the people", it's all about "the corporation". While people are suffering financially, all these corporations get free money for their screw ups, while no one helps the people.

I'm so sick of governments, in general. The corruption is outrageous these days, because it's not even a secret any more, it's right in our faces. They take a crap right on us, day after day. We need a revolution.

  • MPAA Effectively Shuts Down Largest Fan Edit Movie Site

    ScytheNoire ( profile ), 24 Nov, 2008 @ 10:03am

The MPAA, often times like the RIAA, is always overstepping it's boundaries and filing false DMCA claims, which is why the DMCA needs to be done away with altogether. It's using a mini-gun to kill a fly, and just doesn't work properly.

Also the MPAA and RIAA constantly seem to think they control ALL movies and music, when in fact, they don't. They represent a select group of studio's, and those studio's themselves have the right to disagree with the organizations and have the right to give permission. Often times, it isn't even work that is in any way related to the MPAA or RIAA, they just claim ownership, which is false and illegal.

MPAA and RIAA need to be stopped and put out of business. They are nothing more than a media mafia using lawyers as thugs and hitmen. It's extortion and threats, and that's all they do.
