Democrats were burned by their acceptance of alternative medicine grifters, and it burned them when the needed the world to accept real medicine on a grand scale. I can't shake the feeling this is going down the same path.
A couple reasons: There's a lot more people than DHS, ICE, FBI, etc. eventually numbers will mean something. Second is the inevitable growth of rightwing mobs that will form should they think they can get away with it. My wife is naturalized and easily passes, but there are people that would cheer her deportation. It is worth noting that these are all tied to pretty extreme outcomes, but once you need a gun you probably won't be able to get one and certainly won't be able to acquire the skills. I also believe they are also pretty low on the list of skills and tools one needs, well below basic first aid, savings in banks and cash, a stocked pantry, etc. that are much more likely to be used day today or for natural disasters. Shit, you should be able to cook, clean, basic DIY, hemming, etc. before spending time or money on this.
I think Optics are one of the few things that maters to them. And they'll only do this once theirs been enough damage done that enough of them can survive getting primaried. Like if Trump suddenly reinstated the draft or something.
Optics. If Republicans vote to impeach, it would make it easy for Democrats to point out they were right all along. the 25th amendment would allow them to build a fiction that Trump 'suddenly' became incompetent.
It's pretty common for military recruitment to increase when the economy turns to shit. It's a leading indicator of an economic downturn as it indicates that job market sucks. But because MAGA is exclusively for dumb assholes, they don't see the obvious. I hope people are buckling down for a recession.
Truthfully, they would probably move with more caution and as a result would be actually less damaging to the US. I literally think Trump is doing more damage to the US than any adversary could do without resorting to bombings.
I'm personally guessing their plan is option B. Declare fake riots a national threat, deploy to blue states as republican pantywaists in Congress express 'concern' while their fascists brethren cheer, and get a rubber stamp from the Roberts Supreme Court as they continue to undermine democracy for their benefactors.
You're reading way to much into my comment. I'm not seeing a watershed moment. Hell, I'm not even seeing a change in behavior. I see 53 assholes continuing to do what's best for them individually, as the GOP has done since Ford confirmed the pivot to fraud and criminality as fundamental platform of Republican ideology. Some are just able to see further ahead.
They may be the least pro Trump Republicans, but they're still Republicans and have largely followed along despite an occasional vote otherwise. And it is occasional. Tillis voted for everyone of Trump's dipshit cabinet appointments. Murkowski and Collins voted for all but one. Rand Paul voted for 19, and blubberfish himself managed to only vote for 18. They're just a little bit smarter than average GOP senator and are realizing that getting primaried is one thing, get shot by a farmer who's watching his family starve and his farm get taken is a whole different ball age.
MAGA is finally starting to notice that Trump's policies have done nothing but drive up proces of food, healthcare, labor, technology, and construction. The smarter GOP senators know that MAGA is too fucking stupid to hold Trump responsible, so it will land on them. And they also know they're such fucking awful people, they're gonna be looking for retribution and a few of them won't make it out alive. We're exiting the Fuck Around stage, and enter the Find Out stage
Several of those boats had waaaay to many people on the for carrying smuggling drugs, instead they were trafficking people. And we fucking killed them. You guys are, as always, moronic assholes.
There's no way the SC would prevent this from happening, so the legality of it is irrelevant.
Exactly. I think it's a rather fitting end of his legacy to tie it to Trump.
We're definitely approaching this time. For those that are considering a gun for the first time, here's my Ted Talk: Owning a gun, without knowing how to use it or how to fight in general, doesn't make you a threat. It makes you a loot drop. If you get a gun you need to practice, and not just in a stall. Ideally Find a range that has open shoots weekly so you can get some movement in and have a bunch of fun at the same time. Also, find a gym that trains in some form of live martial art. Preferably one that includes both striking and ground fighting. I'd suggest Krav Maga. BJJ and Muay Thai are good, but can get over their skis sometimes.
Watching the Reagan Foundation absolutely defile his legacy by bending at the knee for Trump is making me rather gleeful.
Don't go outing lawyer man like that.
I don’t see anyone complaining about christianophobiaWell, you're a fucking idiot then.
Watching that dipshit, Dinesh D'Souza, learn the same thing in real-time (and in parallel) has been rather entertaining. He's a rich(ish) brown Republican ass kisser, putting him one step above most other brown people but still decidedly lower than all other white people. Including criminals.
Spaceballs wasn't supposed to be prognostications about the future of the US government.
I posed about 20% of my thought for some reason. The vilification of social media and the desire to regulate access to it. It's dumb, fruitless and is already handing another social media platform to the worst people.
