Guess its time for me to start a full on education campaign for everybody I know. Make sure that when they are sent these bogus letters they will know how to react instead of just handing over money.
I can see what you are saying, but I believe that would still be happening even if copyright was drastically reduced or removed.
Because of that, I do not see it so much as an unintended consequence as I do just a natural part of things.
This may be just my opinion but I don't think we can have a truly creative age until copyright is drastically reduced or weakened from its current state. There are tons of good mash up ideas and collages and things of the sort that can be awesome, but right now are hindered because of copyright.
If we truly want to unleash creativity, I think copyright needs to go or be brought back down to a minimum.
When did Apple move into the feminine products area?
No.
Going to a theatre is not the same as seeing an artist perform live.
Doesn't give me or anyone I know the same feel good feeling from a movie that we get from going to a concert.
The movie theatre isn't live. So no, not the same at all.
BWAHAHAHAHHA.
This is priceless.
Yet they want ISPs to know exactly what is and isn't infringing without any help. HAHAHA.
And, just because it was recent, and people are mentioning it here in the comments, I give you this:

I think they haven't realized it yet. They don't seem like the brightest bunch. Wait until somebody starts shouting about how great it is to be able to listen to books. Then they will freak out about the progress we are making towards having better lives and freak out that they aren't being paid.
Then will come the lawsuits.
I love part of their description for it:
Are you l33t? If not, you can use this translator to convert your text to H4X0R script kiddie language and look like a retard all over the Internet.
Can't wait for the current IP setup of all facets to go down. Preferably without glory.
The original idea behind trademarks is still good though. Preventing consumer confusion is never a bad idea, but a lot of lawsuits related to trademarks these days are out of hand. Just like Copyright and Patent laws are way out of hand.
The times have changed, and people need to adapt.
He is from the Detroit area. That would be the same people who voted in Kwame Kilpatrick back into office after his first run. You know, the mayor who stole insane amounts of money from system and was actually thrown in jail.
If you factor in the rates that other agencies like the RIAA and their ilk actually pay out to the content creators, then the percents actually get worse. Those collection agencies normally pay way less than 49% to the artists. So, if you want to include that 79 mil chances are you are going to make the numbers look much less favorable for your cause. Just stick with what ethorad shows, he is trying to help you.
And then they could block themselves from being view on a TV. =P
The solution is to download all of the games you buy close to release, when they are readily shared in a DRM removed format. Then when you need to play it years from now, just bust out the pirated version and install it.
Don't forget to get No-DVD cracks for them as well (only needed if the DRM removed version isn't already cracked).
I don't see ads on this site ever, so no.
Technology advances, adapt or die.
Go Talk-Talk
Talk Talk certainly has my respect. Any company that is willing to stand up for its users / customers is a good company.
I kind of wish Talk Talk or iiNet was an ISP here in the US.
The only choices I get for high speed in my area is Wild Blue satellite (not acceptable for gaming, and has a ridiculously small usage cap) or Comcast.
No competition. =(
