I forget where I read it but the version Louisiana says to be used is actually the version from the movie The Ten Commandments which was a version created by a group know as the Fraternal Order of the Eagle or something.
At the least said officer should lose his right to carry a weapon while on duty.
I think the cops should have to earn the right to be able to carry a weapon in public and not just passing some gimme cop training program. They need to prove they can deal with the public in a truly reasonable manner that is decided by the public, not the cops, before being given the unbelievable right to have the potential to use deadly force in public.
The current system is not working as too many cowards and dickheads are being given weapons and then the courts let them walk free after destroying peoples lives.
To me, websites hosting users’ comments are no different than newspapers printing letters to the editor. I would be willing to bet that newspapers don’t print every letter they get and I wonder if they might edit the ones they do print from time to time.
Many times you have to take virtual actions and convert them into their real world equivalent to see if they should be allowed or not. I’ve seen commercials where the ad is basically enacting various spam emails in the real world in order to educate people about how they might react to the same situation in the real world and tell them to do the same with any emails, texts or calls they get.
Stuff like this just shows the need for the cowardly cops to be disarmed.
Only the ones that show they have the skills to de-escalate a situation should be allowed to carry weapons when dealing with the public.
This year I’ve made a concerted effort to get my ebooks from Libby instead of buying from Amazon. It’s been great so far and only a few books have been unavailable to get on loan.
I wonder how publishers feel about places like Half Price Books? That is where I usually go when I’m looking for a physical book anymore. Plus I can take in a box or two of books I no longer want and get some money for them.
Yost led a lot of the shenanigans around trying to prevent Ohio voters from voting on an abortion amendment last year.
The year before the state changed the law to remove the option for August special elections “due to cost”. Never mind that August special elections were mainly used by school districts requesting levies due to how the state has screwed up school funding. Too many school levies were passing in August after being defeated in November and March so they had to go.
Then early last year the abortion amendment was certified for the November ballot and the righties freaked out. So the state decided to allow a special August election for a change to the ballot initiative process to require a 60% vote for the initiate to pass instead of 50% + 1. And this would apply to the initiatives on the ballot that November. Thankfully the ballot initiate change was voted down hugely by the people of Ohio.
Yost then made text changes to the abortion initiative to change the word fetus to “unborn child” in a last ditch effort to sway voters. Thankfully the abortion amendment passed with almost 60% of the vote anyway.
These radical, MAGA Republicans are terrified of actual democracy and are doing all in their power to hold onto their power.
Stand your ground laws could be used in the places that have them. They would probably only be applied when a white citizen is approached by a non-white cop and opens fire though.
My daughter is getting her teaching license and she had some classroom experience as part of the program. The teacher “collects” phones at the start of class but it’s a useless exercise as the kids have fake or extra phones to turn in while keeping their real phones.
These moral crusaders just need to realize they are tilting at windmills and no matter what they think of the kids will find a way around it.
If some state laws actually say that taking a photo and drawing boundaries on it is some magical item called a “Survey” then that law needs to be removed.
It is ridiculous that this would be illegal.
He was an assistant coach for the wrestling team while the team doctor was abusing wrestlers. Many of the wrestlers said they begged Jordan to do something to help yet he claims to not know anything about the abuse or that anyone told him about it.
The university has admitted the doctor was abusing people but has been hesitant to do much other than acknowledge the abuse happened. The doctor committed suicide many years ago, the abuse was in the 80’s and 90’s.
You mean trickle on economics. They are pissing on people and telling them it’s raining.
The right still believes the lie that tax cuts pay for themselves as well.
I think it’s best to give “that poster” the Costanza treatment and assume that whatever they say is the opposite of how things actually are in the real world.
Cops aren’t selected for their intelligence.

The poor worm died from a lack of food not long after infesting RFK Jr.
Don’t you know that cops are too stupid to understand the law so they don’t have to abide by it and suffer no consequences for breaking it.
Most cops aren’t that bright.

Yet another reason why cops need to be disarmed. Giving these cowards guns means they try to use it to solve all the issues they run into.
I bet he would be begging to be next.

Don’t reply, just flag and move on.
