Bacon goes with everything. Bacon ice cream? Why not, it sounds good. And better with bacon.
"might makes right". The bullies in Idaho's legislature have the power, so they use it. They effectively empower the bullies among parents, those who would force their fears, their prejudices, and their moral hangups on every other parent's children - removing those parent's rights. Bullies. Absent the 'rule of law' it is "might makes right". And sometimes, the 'rule of law' is only a tool of bigger bullies.
"if we don't have to bother with people's Constitutional rights." - says every police union ever.
The 'internet' has been a flame-fest since when I started on Usenet using Pine. It's no better now. What is different now is that so many users on mainstream sites post content without regard for verification, truth, or balance. It seems like 'getting clicks' and 'going viral' supersedes any consideration of their reputation, or their integrity. And there are many people monetizing the lies and incitements, spreading any kind of tripe, trash, or lie if they can cash in on it, or con someone by it. There have always been scammers, but now there are "big names" making careers of it, publicly. When did one person's lie become just as 'important' as a verifiable fact from someone else? " Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge." Asimov's observation did not used to be the basis for careers.
'Mistakes will happen. Too bad about the dead people, but we'll be more careful next time, maybe.' I hope the police department at least paid to fix the windows and clean up the mess from the 'flashbangs'. This is just plain incompetence.
Maybe Elon got some of Trump's lawyers to moonlight. They'd work for Elon because he has way more money than Trump (if no better business skills) and might actually pay them.
How "nervous" is too nervous? And how non-nervous is "too not-nervous"? Because it sure seems like a definition is needed. When I've been pulled over by cops, it has been upsetting, and I'm nervous. It seems like an entirely normal reaction. And the way cops can take -anything- to be evidence of whatever they want to find, and the way cops seem to believe they can just do anything they want, it is justified to be nervous. Maybe cops and the courts can put up some videos with just how "nervous" is OK, and what is "too nervous".
‘to be obscene, lewd, lascivious, filthy, excessively violent, harassing, or otherwise objectionable,’ Certainly seems to be a succinct, and on-target summary definition of Republican political ideology... it all seems about right to me. Perhaps the reason so much GOP span goes into the flusher is because they hit all the criteria for spam so exactly.
Not to worry. Texas's legislature will quickly fix this. Because you can bet there are plenty of videos of Texas legislators getting 'friendly' lap dances at their neighborhood 'adult entertainment' emporium, where the legislators went "strictly for research, you bet", and the owners were astute enough to make sure they had something to remember these frequent visitors by... a little 'leverage', if you will.
Taking credit for something the opposed in the vote is just another Republican lie. "Sure, we did that." after they vehemently opposed it is just lying about their position. And lies are what Republicans do, so this is just Republicans staying in character. You could almost say lying is a core Republican principle... but that would be a lie, too, because really Republicans don't have -any- principles.
should know better than to mess with the Mouse.
Trump's campaign sued, presumably on behalf of Trump, so the legal bills could be paid by "other people's money." Trump wasting and scamming political donations. Since Trump personally benefits by this legal spending by the campaign, can it be considered taxable income to Trump? Facebook pays huge sums of money for security services for Zuckerberg and family, and that's charged to Zuck as taxable income... wouldn't paying legal fees for lawsuits instigated by Trump, and benefiting Trump if he wins be taxable income to Trump? Not that he'd actually pay taxes on it, but it would be worth sticking it to him anyway I find it hard to conceive of -anything- that could be said about Trump that would not pass the test of being true, and therefore not actionable. Particularly in an "opinion and entertainment" column. Nears as I can figure, "opinion and entertainment" means "truth not required"... but let's as Tucker about that.
because their message itself is so obnoxious that it would 'upset' people enough they would never vote Republican. It's the -message-, RNC, not the spam filters... there's a reason why your emails are blocked and filtered, and it's not the sender. It's the message.
"We can't talk about our policies, because we don't have any. We can't talk about our results, because our past performance, the results are terrible. We can't talk about our candidate's character because our candidates are liars, bigots, racists, and fools. We can't talk about our future plans, because we don't have any besides revenge and vindictiveness." Republicans are stuck. The only thing they have left is distraction, more lies, and denials. So of course the consultants will propose putting a bandage on their terminal illnesses, and then the party "leaders" will deny they need it, and double-down on 'stupid' and 'lies' instead. Witness "George Santos." Witness McCarthy's inability to articulate any specifics on his "cut spending" ultimatum. Fools and liars. Republicans - the party of lies and liars.
Is there a 'Pravda Social' in Russia, where Putin post propaganda? Anyone who has to call their social network 'Truth -anything' is -already- lying, before they post up word one.
is if, now that the votes are in, Musk leaves Twitter. He asked for a poll, he's said he'll abide by the results, and the results are in. The results are Elon should go... will he? Or will he, just like other autocrats, find an excuse, any excuse, to just do what he wants. Regardless, it is highly entertaining watching Elon burn 44 Billion in almost real time.
Oh, wait. Josh Hawley was running from the Senate... that's right, I remember that video. Fast on his feet, too, the little fleet-footed liar.
Mr. Finchem responded "Hey - this tech stuff is tough!" This is the guy who doesn't trust voting machines, thinks they were hacked by satellite from Italy. Right. The really, really scary part is that Republican voters in Arizona would rather elect someone incompetent supporting Trump than hire someone who knows what they are doing. I try to be optimistic, but I'm starting to come to a serious rational conclusion that the United States is doomed. No external enemy could defeat us, but we will destroy ourselves voluntarily, it sure looks likely.
And they told him that doing what he said he was going to do in the first place was likely the cheapest outcome he was going to get. Anything else and he'd probably get burned worse.
It's Fox "News"...
It's Fox "News"... nobody goes to Fox "News" for facts. "Fox News - The Network That Lies To You To Respect You"
