  Humans don't understand risk. Humans react in insane ways to tragedy. We had 1 day when some planes were used as weapons, the response is insane. We are not safer today. We have so much more bullshit to deal with, that isn't keeping us safe. (See also TSA agents trafficking weapons & guns when not robbing passengers) We all just stand in the line, put the shoes in the tray, and think we're safer. (Something something lion can be detonated rather easily) Migrants running from border patrol are going to avoid going to a school. They would stand out & draw to much attention.... but 'out of an abundance of caution' we run these drills & call the code every time it happens in a range X far from the school, the kids get warned of danger, hunker down, and..... nothing happens. Cops are literally being trained that black men have superpowers & can kill them like they were a grain of fentanyl. They can leap 25 feet and rip the flesh from the officer before they can radio for help. I mean it helps play into the racist tropes & behavior we see far to often (but not judges because justice is blind and all of that) but 'i thought i saw a gun' 'he moved funny' 'he was holding a gun (cell phone)' 'I murdered a 9 yr old in seconds because I couldn't tell it was a toy gun not because he was black and that terrified me.' We fear people not like us & we don't bother to learn about them instead relying on the sterotypes and what others tell us about them... (this system works SO WELL when teens tell other teens how not to get pregnant). All school shootings are not the same, but we want a 1 size fixes all answer to it... when we can't even agree that shooting a cuffed suspect in the back is murder. Rather than question the wisdom of these lock downs because there might me immigrants in the area, they want to have more drills, more steps... rather than ask is this actually doing any good? Hey but Congress is getting 10K & a stipend to pay for a monitoring system for their homes... which is way more than they've done for schools after any of the many, many, many shootings of children.

(period full stop) They are allowed to opt out of having to explain how they want their kids to use the internet. They get to skip explaining to kids that not everything they see online is real. Then they want to right to sue when a corporation didn't show more concern for their child than they ever did. Its only a few people dead DWB. Its only a few people who died from PhenPhen. Its only a few people dying of a curable disease. Its only a few assholes running a corporation who don't give a fuck.

  Because the media is insane.   I used the term the person who pointed out my misstep used. Its not just movie producers, but most media refuses to how to handle people who are different. I thought for a long time I was just supposed to be a supportive bestie to my straight girlfriend because thats all they ever showed. Then they started making us real, but making sure to bury us before the end of the show. I think sometimes we get in our own way in understanding that as badly teh gays are portrayed, they do it to all of those who are different. We celebrate seeing us shown as real actual people, but never think about how they still keep othering other people. I had never considered how 'Rainman' would/could make people feel badly, but now I know better. Everyone deserves to see themselves on the screen, and society should be able to do better but we're not there yet. Hopefully things will keep improving so that everyone can see themselves on the screen.

  I don't often see people here dog piling, then I admit to skipping the resident crazies posts & responses to them. I remember seeing someone using the n word, in its full horror, to make a point who got swatted on the nose with a newspaper by 2 people I think. The poster thought they needed the strong word to make a point, the other posters disagreed, pointing out that use of it usually ends anyone looking at what was said. I appreciate you pointing out something I wasn't aware of, & I will try to do better but I might only be human.

  We are mostly all grownups. I did not understand how my comment could cause offense to neurodivergent people, it was not my intention to cause offense with the comment, just a recycled flawed image from a movie in my brain. I can try to do better now that I understand that flawed image causes offense. Everyone can tell you I sometimes set out to cause offense, with great gusto, when I think it is warranted. This was not one of those times, I now have a better understanding that I caused pain which was never my intention with that comment.

  And the very best part of this is, that they can not show real world harm to them if they miss one. They like to claim billions in losses, but seriously if every upload they missed cost them a billion dollars how are they still in business? So to protect from an alleged harm, they get to do actual harm. Why can kindergartners explain how this isn't fair but politicians can't grasp it?
