  There is another potential problem. It may make it harder for developers to introduce something truly innovative and different. These kind of community based rating systems tend to demote ideas that are too different or that only appeal to a group not already steeped in the culture. That already happens to an extent, but it could make things worse.

  This would finally explain the cabal of teenage boys who hang out in the local supermarket. They clog up the checkout aisle while the rest of us just want to purchase our chips and ice cream bars. Now that I know why they are all there I can finally deal with this horrible menace and introduce them to this thing called the "internet." Once they realize all they have to do is whip out their phones and type in "google.com" then we can finally get some peace and quiet while trying to pay for our beer and toilet paper.
  
  Also, it would allow me to look through the dirty magazines without them looking over my shoulder anymore. Maybe I could even spend a little more time there without interruption? Of course, I will have to be careful to resist the urge to brutally murder large numbers of children while they try to better themselves in school. Patience, one things at a time....

  Do not celebrate too quickly. Something like this happened with the campus carry bill. The Governor vetoed the first one, but the second one he signed. Once the initial fury dissipates the legislature has shown they are willing to go back and try again until they get what they want.

  Looks like Facebook learned nothing from AOL and their attempts to keep other businesses out. At least I do not have to figure out clever things to do with Facebook CDs. This does have the advantage, though, in that it will split European regulators between those that favour personal liberty and those who favour traditional media outlets.

  The Free Market will decide the value of life

  The analyst was not thinking it through. The free market will decide the value of that one shot. When you ask parents how much they will pay for the shot that will save their child, the valuation will be high enough that it will make up for the long term payments of longer therapies. See, problem solved! Unless, of course, you are the one with the sick child and just gave up everything for your kid.
  
  Another advantage of the patent system is that it is not really a free market.

  Twitter as an amplifier

  Twitter can act as an amplifier but only if you have the requisite number of followers. Politicians will get that power due to their positions. The rest of us poor schmucks cannot use the amplifier but can borrow it to some small extent by replying to people in power on twitter. With this ruling it takes away that secondary effect and institutionalizes a one way power dynamic.

Besides, it is not like you can just sit down and generate those things randomly. In some situations you actually have to use a command line to do that sort of thing!

  If they think it is such a big problem, then they should ask the copyright "owners." If the computers doing this feel like they do not need copyright to continue to do their work then there is not a problem. Let the computers decide, and if they are all that smart they likely will choose better lawyers than these yahoos.
