" It's incredibly shortsighted of the industry to keep working so hard to try to ban the technology that may become the next huge innovation that drives more and more revenue for the industry."

It is not an industry who makes decisions. It is just a personalities who each have their own positions, salaries which depends on short time revenues.

Who can get salary NOW with promise about increased sales after 5 YEARS?

When you see how much US already spent ( $79'000'000'000 ) over last 20 years for/on this madeup problem...

I can state that amount of bullshit dramatically increased over the past 40 years. More dramaticaly than CO2.

Can user (who paid for access) share with special link which is unique for that content + user so that non paid "friend" could access content. This works fine with googles picasa service, or google documents: you do not get password you get ticket.

    Re: Re:

    Good insight!
By patenting you not only disclose your "way of making something" so creating "searchable basis" for attack, but also disclose your "know how" for those who do not care about patents (e.g. in some contries companies do not care about patents, at least in some industries).

Sounds like: "Patent your invention - support China."
In sentence above, "China" may be replaced with: Russia or ...

  • The Pirate Bay Goes More Distributed, Shuts Down Tracker

    ernestinis ( profile ), 18 Nov, 2009 @ 04:02am

    Maybe Personal Publicity can help

    What is wrong with statements?:
    (1)RIAA punished 3000 pirates
(2)MPAA sued "The Pirate Bay" for piracy and failed again.

    What is good with statement?:
    (3)LANVA sued 106 Pirates for downloading Windows7.

While statement are about RIAA, MPAA - it is about nobody - no names, no brands. It is not about somebody who made bad decision, or some company(brand name) which was initiator.
So company behind can avoid bad publicity, by using "shield" RIAA or MPAA.

With LANVA case ( Lithuanian anti pirate company ). It was a bit different.
Whey metioned product which was pirated. This way it was not a bad publicity for LANVA only but for Microsoft and Windows7 also.
In that case Microsoft was't happy to be in punisher role, even made public statements like "we was't asking for that, it was not our initiative, it is not clear if it is piracy at all...".

I think that while public opinion moving towards "nopocyright"
it coud be good publicity for "brands" faiting against e.g. "single mothers" to be in a list with amount of money somebody sued. ...or how they
    failed.

  • Songs Used In Promotions Get A Ton Of Sales… So Why Does The Music Industry Try To Make It Harder?

    ernestinis ( profile ), 28 Oct, 2009 @ 01:28am

Whats is a problem of "balance"

BMI, RIAA collects money on everything except direct sales.
So, the way to maximize profits - is:
    1) to create new taxes
    2) prevent "non taxable" channel to appear
    3) if #2 fails apply #1

This is problem of business model. If they would SELL that music MAYBE way would try to find balance.

  • European Parliament Committee Backs Further Hack Of Roaming Charges

    ernestinis ( profile ), 12 Mar, 2009 @ 12:48am

    Roaming regulation

Competition works fine between several operators inside country because customers CAN choose operator, perator which charges too much will loose customers - so charging too much is risky.

While in roaming mode is like "fishing": customers are automatically connected to your services, while customer can choose not to answer phone call, data services (WAP, ActiveSync, GoogleMaps) can connect in automatic mode (if user has not dissabled GPRS/3G).
Mobile Phone User interface do not show list of operators WITH prices to choose from.
So roaming operators do not compete on price, all thay need is to have coverage as much as possible and set price as High as possible.

Re: Re: What's fair for Microsoft is now Fair for

Apple and Microsoft both have dominance in their own market. Like ...lets say Ford lets users to choose Engine from 100 Hp to 250 Hp, diesel or not, but do not let user to choose Engine from Toyota. "Gives everything bundled".

Should Microsoft let user to choose vendor for Notepad (do not install into system their own by default), ...Start buton, Explorer, IE, GUI, File System (NTFS), Networking components, .NET ?

Does your Nokia has preinstalled media player, is it a problem, is Nokia dominant in Symbian
    market ?
...Or may be it is just because of my choice of the market definition ?
