  I dont think the final total $ amount is really relevant. What is relevant is that he got 6% of the company. Did the shareholders know he was getting 6% of the company when they agreed to the deal? I also dont buy the idea that it was clear the company would make those gains before they did. No one knows the future. The appeal will be interesting.

  I used to sub to SJMN back when it was a paper newspaper. But now there is internet I read from maybe dozens of newspapers 1. Im not subbing to all of them. 2. I dont read enough from any one of them that they deserve a full subscription. Seems like by the article is a better way of paying for what you are getting.

  Youre right that being a loudmouth doesnt justify arrest. However refusal to leave is trespassing, and refusing a lawful order from a police officer is also a crime.

  I think NYtimes giving the court transcripts of results that were exact copies wont cut it in court. How does the court know if that text was the actual result or if it was doctored by NYT? The evidence is basically hearsay. "I prompted this and this is what it said". NYT will need to query the LLM in court and show in real time that it can produce infringing text.

  In all copyright complaints you need to show either that the distributed output is the copyrighted work or at least too much like the copyrighted work. Basically a side by side comparison. AI produced works are not copies. The output style may be like a copyrighted work but style is not copyrightable.
