Non-Profit Luddites

from the just-what-we-need dept

An interesting article over at Salon about some non profit groups that are running ads condemning the technology industry for all sorts of things. I was ready to tear this one apart, but I actually think the Salon article does a pretty good job of presenting the arguments that I would have put here. Basically, it looks like a case where the creators of the anti-tech campaign are over reacting. They say they’re trying to start a debate, but the fact is it’s not as if people in the tech industry don’t think about these things. In fact, I think a lot of techies are naturally skeptical people, and enjoy sniffing out false advertising (no matter which side it supports). Just because these non-techies in non-profits buy the hype, doesn’t mean that everyone does.
