We’re Super Close To Making One Billion Users Real With Just Hours To Go
from the just-need-a-few-more-users... dept
Update: We did it! The threshold has been passed and the game will go into production! You can still back the campaign through midnight tonight, but thank you to everyone who backed us!
I know I posted earlier today about a lovely review of One Billion Users, our exciting new social media card game which, as I noted yesterday, is getting down to the wire on Kickstarter. But we’ve suddenly had a huge influx of backers, which has pushed the campaign to over 95% of its goal and put success in sight! We just need a little more help to get us over the line before the campaign ends at midnight Pacific time today.

It’s been incredible to see so much support for the game in the past few days (mainly on Bluesky!) and we’re now super hopeful we can reach our goal of bringing One Billion Users to life. Thank you to everyone who has already backed the campaign!
If you want to help us cross the finish line, please check out One Billion Users and consider backing it now before it’s too late!

Yep, less than $1k (2%) to get in 10 hours! Easy peasy!
No need for one billion words but congratulations, you deserve it well!
I’m not even interested in playing the game, but I pledged just to spite the trolls. Fortunately, I have friends who might enjoy it.
Re:
I’m super impressed they sold four of the five ‘design a card’ slots for a grand.
I came here to throw money at it to get it over the line as well, just to spite the trolls.
Re: Re:
We actually ended up selling all five of those! The final one came right after we hit the threshold.
Congrats on the funding!
Congrats on reaching the mark! I had planned on adding my money to the mix, but forgot to do so.

Lol, rofl
You were at like $30,000 something, and 120 something supporters 24 hours ago. Now you’re just over $50k (you goal) and over 1300 supporters.
Now, one scenario, is that you had some truly massive last minute advertising, people were holding out until last minute to order (why?). But I don’t really see any sign of that. And it’s really a huge spike, somewhat in money but hugely in the number of backers. That’s almost….unbelievable.
Holy carp you botted your backer counts. Cuz lol, no, you didn’t get a 1000% jump in supporters in the last day of a campaign. Such things have become common (and very noticeable) on social media platforms but I didn’t even think Kickstarter had the networks setup for that. I suppose I shouldn’t be that surprised.
That is both pathetic and kinda amazing. Ironic, too, considering how much you whine about astroturfing.
Re:
Your inability to comprehend reality is impressive, Matthew. If we were faking it, that would require us to put up tens of thousands of dollars. For what purpose? To fake a successful campaign on which we would then lose a ton of money? Have you ever thought through anything?
No. What happened was that there was a massive campaign among people on Bluesky who (apparently) like my work to back the campaign, and amazingly it worked. You can go look on Bluesky and see.
You know, the platform you insist is dead, but now has over 25 million users, some of whom wished to support this game and were all pushing each other promoting it (much to our pleasant surprise).
Anyway, still a few hours to get a copy yourself. I know you secretly want one.
Re:
120 something supporters 24 hours ago
I just checked the dashboard and we had 829 backers yesterday. 694 the day before that. Your memory isn’t so good I guess.
Re:
What part of “I can weather Trump’s tariffs easier than you can” do you not understand?
Re:
How did you put it a day or two ago?
Oh yes… your tears are delicious!
Re:
“That is both pathetic and kinda amazing.”
You are indeed both massively pathetic and amazingly stupid bro.
Yeah, nobody reads Verge articles…
Dude, take the L. It’s pathetic to see you so desperate to explain away why it succeeded.
I wasn’t planning on backing it but I saw how close it was today and threw some into the pot. I’m proof that you’re wrong.
