Techdirt Podcast Episode 239: Gaming Like It's 1924

from the celebrating-the-public-domain dept

Last week, we announced the winners of our second annual public domain game jam, Gaming Like It’s 1924. The entries were so great this year that they deserve a close look, so this week myself and Randy Lubin — who was instrumental in conceiving, launching, and judging these jams — join the podcast to discuss all six of the winners from the game jam, and what makes them special.

Everyone's a winner

This is the first Techdirt Podcast I ever listened to. It’s also the first time I ever listened to Leigh Beadon’s voice, and I can plainly tell he lives in or is from Ontario with that accent of his (I have relatives from Peterborough, so that’s how I can tell!).

As for the topic at hand, the submissions this year are so good that even the ones that didn’t win were outstanding, such as He who gets mauled, Bears in Squares, and Tarzan, Jungle Entrepreneur. While the winners this year were indeed deserving, so were the ones that didn’t, and that just meant that this year was indeed a great year for public domain remix games!
