Seems interesting, shame it’s useless to me. Got a version that’ll go into a UK socket?
Re:
According to Dyconn’s specs, it will handle UK mains input. If you have a spare C7/figure-8 cord (I’m sure you can find one cheap), I’d jump on this deal.
I built a smaller multi-charger from the 5V/5A power supply, USB ports, and misc bits salvaged when my Virgin Webplayer died. But I’ve been looking for one with a more ports and more power, and this looks like a winner.
I see that she’s removed her name from these posts. I wouldn’t want her job.
Re:
Retroactively too. It’s now like she never wrote a post at all.
It’s strange that Gretchen got shy all of a sudden (or maybe this was Mike’s idea?). But yeah, she had the worst job at Techdirt, serving as the lightning rod for irate customers. People in similar public roles can often have strangers show up at their house. It can get creepy.
50W x 5 sockets = 10A per socket. That’s 4x the 2.5A maximum current needed to meet USB spec’s, yet it can only charge 4 tablets at once?
Please check that 50W rating, because it doesn’t make sense. I’m betting that the rating is actually 10W, which would mesh with the rest of the description.
Wups, I’m an idiot. It’s 50W because it’s 5V @ 10A. So please ignore my previous comment. Mea culpa.
Tech support problem.
I’m probably being totally dunderheaded about this.
Does the TD store require a separate account than the TD main site?
Also no amount of noscript permitting seems to get the site to allow me to sign in to pay for the thing.
Also, I’m posting pre-coffee.
Re: Tech support problem.
Yep, deals.techdirt.com login is separate from techdirt.com account.
I don’t use NoScript, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it disabled most of the functionality on deals.techdirt.com- Lots of scripts from all over the web.
