The Small Screen's Biggest Problem Is The Small Screen?
There are plenty of reasons to be skeptical about mobile TV, the supposed next big thing in the mobile industry, but one analyst has cracked the key to success: screen size. Apparently three inches diagonally is the “sweet spot” above which people’s interest in mobile TV rises significantly. Of course, the only catch with that is that a three-inch screen is pretty enormous when you’re talking about a mobile phone. None of this stuff operates in a vacuum, and to think that making screens bigger will instantly make mobile TV popular is short-sighted. We’ve said before that people won’t watch crap just because it’s on a mobile phone — but they won’t watch it just because it’s on a phone with a bigger screen, either.
