Verizon Backs Up Wired Network With EV-DO

Verizon has launched its new business unit, formed after its buyout of MCI. It’s not doing anything too exciting, but it is offering some products that bundle together services from its different units, including one that uses EV-DO as a backup for business’ main wired connection. It’s similar to what Cingular announced last year, a slower fallback connection should the main wired network fail. It’s doubtful that EV-DO connections will replace much faster wired ones in most offices, but it can prove a useful backup.
