ChoicePoint Finds Even More Leaks
from the never-stops dept
Remember data collector ChoicePoint, whose massive data leak to a bunch of identity thieves kicked off all that national attention earlier this year on data leaks? It appears the company just recently noticed that they hadn’t informed about 17,000 victims of the leak until September. Makes you feel really comfortable, doesn’t it? Of course, for those who had your data leaked, don’t worry too much: ChoicePoint is known for having a ton of incorrect data.

ChoicePoint
I love companies that dont know what their doing.
Re: ChoicePoint
They know what they’re doing. What they’re doing is making money.
Re: ChoicePoint
THEY’RE. I love people who do not know how to spell extremely common words.

Some of the brightest Geniuses weren’t and aren’t all that great at grammer. Especially a weird language that at many times doesn’t follow it’s own rules. To the ChoicePoint thing it just goes to show how weak on-line security really is. There are people in this world that can literally strip your entire account and leave no trace. You’d be amazed what the human brain can think up.

I’m so petty I feel the need to point out that what some of the brightest geniuses weren’t all that great at is grammAr.
Re: ChoicePoint
I was also refused about every job out there. Because of false convictions and warrants and also a suspended liscense because of these accusations. it has been 5 yrs and i finally got it almost straightened out. It is very upsetting to see this happen to others , i know first hand how painful this is. it can make a big difference in salary. i had a job lined up making $60,000 yr in 2003 and lost it due to the ID theft and during the last five yrs i’ve been off the books or working petty jobs just to pay rent. What i recommend that has work for me is to: talk to your county clerks office the supervisor, and pull up your records, if you have warrants your liscense will be suspended. Have the county clerks supervisor talk to the main dmv manager that belongs to your district and have them remove your suspension, mine was in albany. The DMV has your original criminal files their so any misuderstanding the county clerks should have them fix it. Before going to the County clerks office take any proof you have prooving your innocense. If you must get a good conduct letter from your precint it cost about $40. This letter is a background check ran through your fingerprints. I still believe till this day that the DMV is the on that caused this mess, because choicepoint goes by what ever Albany DMV records have, The NYPD goes by the DMV database ( i’ve been stopped by the cops numerous times). Once i had the County clerks office fix this throught the albany DMV, no more Warrants in the police database (brothers a cop so i had him run a nation and state wide check and i was clean). My liscense was unsuspended. Oh yeah i was honorably discharged from the military in 2002 but employers still believed choicepoint over my military records.

Considering this kind of information is circled among thousands within days, it would be nice to be notified immediately.
