Zork-a-likes Find New Life On iPods

from the you-are-in-a-room-it-is-dark dept

There have been plenty of previous attempts to use iPods as something other than music players, such as college study aids or library books. Now, you can play text-based games like Zork on your iPod. Instead of typing in commands, users choose them from a list with the scroll wheel, which should cut down on the “I don’t know how to ‘eat shit'” types of responses borne out of the frustration of never knowing what to do that typified my (short) Zork experience. While these games inherently lack the flashy graphics of most modern games, their ability to be played for a few minutes at a time here and there may give them some legs as casual games, which have proven popular with mobile users.
