Are Scientists Just As Likely To Fake It As Reporters These Days?
from the lying-and-cheating-as-a-way-of-life dept
Right, and you thought it was just reporters and industry associations that made up facts. It appears that plenty of research scientists are doing it as well. While some cases are highly publicized, like the young physicist many thought was on his way to a Nobel Prize, it seems like scientific fakery doesn’t get nearly the same amount of attention. More reminders that even “scientific” studies can be quite questionable. One hopes that the cases of faked research are less common than in other fields — but from the numbers of accusations over the last few years, it certainly looks like there may be quite a bit of data fudging going on.

At least in Science one of the fundamentals is reproducibility.
If your conclusions can’t be reproduced then they are not held as true.
