Voom… Not Dead Yet
from the I-think-I'll-go-for-a-walk... dept
Remember two days ago when Cablevision announced that they could not reach an agreement with their own Charles Dolan to buy out Voom’s remaining (non-satellite — that’s long gone) assets and were going to shut Voom down. Yeah, well, maybe not. They did, in fact, turn off Voom’s website, but that hasn’t stopped Charles Dolan. He claims he still plans to buy the assets and has set up a different website to keep taking orders for a service with no satellite and… um… well, nothing. He doesn’t own anything and Cablevision doesn’t want to give him anything, so it’s not entirely clear what he’s selling (or who is signing up for such nothingness). Update: Cablevision now says that it’s delaying the shutdown of Voom to give Dolan some more time to put together a buyout plan. Also, something in all of this mess has made the SEC curious to take a look behind the curtain to figure out what’s going on. Update again: Now, a bunch of directors are accusing Dolan of deceiving the public with his fake Voom website. This is getting messy… fast.
